Battery life:

Asus U3 series notebooks are very compact and stylish notebooks with 13.3″ display and a full sized keyboard. Even though it lacks an optical drive, it remains a firm choice and provides a variety of features rarely seen on notebooks of its class.

Design

On the looks front, the Asus U3 is a very classy and elegant. The top of the lid is covered with a glossy black finish which gives it a stylish look. Whereas its inside is covered with a silver keyboard and it has eye-catching chrome highlights. Its fingerprint reader and a leather-like material surrounding the touchpad make the complete package of the laptop very attractive.

Core Information

The very first thing to notice in Asus U3 is the dual graphic setup. With just tapping a small switch on the side frame of the notebook, the U3 gives you the opportunity to select amongst the incorporated Intel graphics, or a more powerful 128MB NVIDIA GeForce 8400M G. This saves a lot of battery and you don’t need the battery-hungry NVIDIA chip. But you are looking up-on this laptop as a game-board then you are mistaken this device is not made for playing games.

Cutting Edge Technology

Just above the display, there’s a 1.3 megapixel webcam, with headphone and microphone ports to be found on the left side of the frame. The display is crisp and lucid and the LED backlight looks great for multimedia, particularly video substance. Contrast and color is excellent and the glossy finish combined makes Asus U3 a must have laptop.

For wireless connectivity, Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g and n are provided, in addition to Bluetooth 2.0. The U3 has all the usual ports; three USB 2.0 ports, an ExpressCard slot, S-Video out, a memory card reader and FireWire. Amazingly, ASUS has further added a single HDMI port and an eSATA port which are very useful.

A set of other programs in general which are kept aside for higher end notebooks are built-in HSDPA and an incorporated GPS receiver is present in the Asus U3. However you get an external DVD multi recorder in the sales package. Keep in mind though that you’ll only be left with two USB ports when this is attached it does consume battery life drastically. The 6-cell battery returned a more favorable but still not outstanding 2hr 57min. Do note that adjusting power plans in Windows Vista’s control panel should result in somewhat better statistics.

Conclusion

The Asus U3 Series Notebook is a good buy but gamers and multimedia enthusiasts are better advised to take a look at the other available models before settling with this Asus U3.

Canon is one of the most popular brand of cameras out there, and for good reason. They have a range of models that sell from below $100 up to several thousand dollars. With the majority of those models below $300, and quite a few of those below $150. Of course, if your willing to go used with your digital camera purchase, then you’ll spend even less money. If your looking at used, be sure you stick with a reputable dealer either online or offline.

Don’t just consider the initial purchase price with your camera either. Buying a cheap Canon camera is one thing, but there’s an operation cost to be considered with any digital camera. Lots of megapixels may make for sharper resolution images, but they also take up more space on your memory cards and your computer. Memory cards (SD / CF) and hard drives are not cheap. The bigger they are, the more expensive they get. Try to buy a digital camera with no more than 7 megapixels. 5 or 6 would be better.

Another thing to consider, is LCD screen size. A lot of digital cameras have 2.5 or 3 inch LCD screens. Nice for viewing, but also guaranteed to chew through batteries like crazy. If you look around a bit, you should be able to find some models with a 2 inch screen. The inexpensive Canon PowerShot A460 or S30 are still around, and both have smaller screen sizes. An alternative, would be to find a lower priced NiMH battery pack and charger. Don’t buy the charger the camera shop salesman will try to up sell you on, as they’re generally more expensive than then same product at a discount store.

In the spirit of saving batteries, and keeping your costs down, make sure your camera has an optical viewfinder. That way, you don’t have to use the LCD screen all the time. Many LCD screens don’t work well outside in bright sunlight anyway. A lot of digital cameras these days (especially the least expensive) exclude the viewfinder.

The hardware inside can stand constant wear and tear especially if you love traveling. It is more solid that the way it looks. When you hold it, it will not break apart in your hands. The optical drive can let you write in the CD’s or DVD. Its battery has excellent life span.

For those users who are paranoid, this boasts a good security measures that include security chip. It has even has a finger print reader before you access the computer. Its features include HP Disk Sanitizer, memory change alert, power-on password access, security lock slot, and system password. It has a great keyboard equipped with nice touch response. Despite that it’s small, users may find typing and coding easier compared to its predecessor that the Compaq nc2400.

There are some drawbacks of this PC. One thing is its speaker system. It isn’t as good compared with other notebooks. This is not recommendable for watching videos or internet conferencing. If you are doing presentations, this can be a nightmare. The hard drive is a bit slow for multi tasking commands. Pointing stick is used that is a bit annoying. Inside includes an Intel Core 2 Duo U7500 / 1.06 GHz processor; a 1GB to 2GB RAM; a 12.1 inch LCD display with a 1,280 x 800 resolution.
